Newcastle United are interested in Aston Villa fullback Stephen Warnock.
The Evening Chronicle says Warnock is also thought to be on the radar of his old club Liverpool.
But with the Merseysiders heavily linked with Jose Enrique, the 29-year-old could offer the Magpies a viable and experienced option in their back four.
A source at Villa Park said: "It's pretty obvious that Stephen has no future at Villa while Gerard Houllier is here and it is now all about who comes in for him this summer."
