Newcastle United have joined the race for Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell.
The Sun says Sidwell, 25, was close to signing for Newcastle on a free from Reading last summer before heading to Stamford Bridge.
Sunderland and Blackburn are also eyeing the £4million-rated player, who has made just seven Premiership starts for Chelsea.
