Newcastle Jets recruit Ruben Zadkovich is close to a return to full training after suffering a few injuries during pre-season.
The former Derby County forward has suffered a fractured wrist and bone bruising in his ankle in recent weeks but is on the mend and expects to be fit for pre-season matches coming very soon.
"With bone bruising it can be a bit of a slow process," Zadkovich said.
"It was good just to be back out on the pitch. I did a bit of running and some passing and the ankle felt good.
"It has been extremely frustrating sitting and watching the boys train. I felt like a bit of an idiot not training.
"Hopefully things go to plan and I am back doing everything with the main group in the next 10 days.
"I haven't really thought about the trials, but if it feels good leading up to the (Melbourne) Heart game I'll play. I haven't ruled it out."
