Newcastle Jets want Vignaroli as marquee signing

Newcastle Jets want to sign Fabio Vignaroli as a marquee player. "My view about that is fairly simple," Jets chief Remo Nogarotto told the Newcastle Herald.

"Anyone with a thread of knowledge about football, and anyone with a thread of understanding about the technical qualities of footballers, will quickly see that this guy notwithstanding the fact that he hasn't played for his country displays the sort of qualities that are badly needed in the A-League.

"It would be farcical were he not to satisfy a marquee player test."

Nogarotto said Vignaroli would be a "magnificent addition" not just for the Jets, but for the A-League as a whole.

"Not only is he a quality footballer, but I think anyone inside our club would attest to the fact that the lad is a quality person and brings a sense of professionalism and calm to the dressing room, which is so critical to the coach and is often a key to success," Nogarotto said.

"I'm going to be working overtime, along with the rest of the coaching staff, to make sure he stays in Australia."
