Newcastle Jets captain Jade North is getting right behind coach Gary van Egmond who will spend the next two matches in the grandstands. North believes the passion that van Egmond showed after the match will ignite a fire within his teammates and improve overall performances.

"What happened with Dutchy (van Egmond) at the end of the game, I think that sends a message to the whole team," North told The Herald.

"A lot of people said he should not have done this or that.

"I was right behind him. It was good for him to show how much passion he has got.

"I think that is the little something we have been missing.

"I felt a different vibe at training today. Everyone was more motivated and getting into it."
