Newcastle Jets will need plenty of depth in their playing group if they are to progress further in the Asian Champions League. They are the sentiments of Adelaide United skipper Travis Dodd who has witnessed firsthand how tough it is to be competitive in both the ACL and the domestic competition.
The Jets meet Korean club Pohang Steelers next month in the knockout round and Dodd understands the value of having plenty of players at their disposal.
"The sides get harder as you go, and depth is what you need in a club especially as the A-League will be underway," Dodd said.
"We virtually had two sides last season, which you need if you have to play three games within a week.
"If they get past Pohang, which won't be easy over there, they will need to add more quality to the squad and give it more depth."
