Newcastle Jets are set to sign former Adelaide United striker Dez Giraldi to a short-term deal. "He has just got back from trials in Germany," van Egmond said. "There is no doubt he has pedigree. He is a former Olyroo and spent some time in Italy as well.

"He plays more central than in a wide area and will give us someone else who can play at the point other than just Joel [Griffiths]."
