Beijing Guoan striker Ryan Griffiths is close to agreeing terms with A-League club Newcastle Jets.
The brother of former Jets marquee man Joel (currently with Beijing) and Hangzhou's Adam is believed to be keen to return home from China and reports suggest that the Hunter club are very close to completing a deal.
Jets chief executive John Tsatsimas said that a deal looked very positive.
"It is looking promising," he said last night.
"At this stage we are looking at a year and a half deal but those are the details we are going over at the moment."
The 29-year old has scored 13 goals in 45 league matches for Beijing and will strengthen the Jets forward options of he happens to arrive in January.
