Newcastle United chiefs insist there's no strict age policy for incoming transfers.

The statement came in a meeting between the Newcastle United Supporters' Trust and a panel which included secretary Lee Charnley and finance director John Irving.

"The board explained that there are exceptions, as there was with one player in the summer window which made sense from a football and financial point of view. It is not a case of 'no never' but it is not the club's general policy," quotes the Evening Chronicle.
