Newcastle United are closing on a deal for Manchester City midfielder Alfie Harrison.

The Athletic says Newcastle have reached an agreement with City for the 18 year-old.

It is not clear about the transfer fee. Harrison is expected to sign a long-term contract with Newcastle.

Within the next few days, the midfielder will undergo his medical examination, after which the deal will be completed.

This season, the central midfielder has accounted for eight goals and four assists in eight league games for the club's U18 team.
