Newcastle United hero Nobby Solano has called on the players to prove themselves this weekend against West Ham United.
The Peruvian will be watching on in Lima as his two old clubs lock horns at St James' Park.
He told the Evening Chronicle, "Newcastle shouldn't be in this position.
"My big worry is that they haven't been winning games anyway and now they have to win a game under intense pressure - especially if news filters through from Hull that they are winning.
"It really is down to the players to show they care.
"They've got one more chance to save this and if they can't do it for themselves, they have to do it for the city and the fans.
"Newcastle's fans don't deserve to be in the Championship."
