Newcastle United hero Jonas Gutierrez has described the experience of leading the club to Premier League safety as similar to that of being in a movie.

The Argentine, who made his recovery from testicular cancer earlier this season, scored a goal and provided an assist in the 2-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday.

"It was like a movie!" said Gutierrez, who is set to leave the club when his contract expires this summer.

"It was amazing. I have to say thank you to the fans. Through my illness, and from day one in fact, they have been unbelievable to me. I owe every one of them - that was for them."
