Newcastle United are desperate to sign QPR star Charlie Austin this summer.
A recent report in the Daily Mirror suggests that the Magpies are willing to spend £10million on the 25-year old striker as they look to lure manager Steve McClaren from Derby County.
Newcastle are determined to make some serious signings early in the summer transfer window so as to convince McClaren to cross from the Championship where he has the Rams sitting fifth on the table.
Austin, who is also a target for Crystal Palace and Southampton, is almost certain to leave QPR if they fail to avoid the drop this season. The former Burnley ace has netted 17 league goals for the Loftus Road outfit this term.
