Newcastle United are facing defeat in their pursuit of Hertha Berlin striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
The Evening Chronicle says United appear to have missed out on Lasogga after failing to match his wage demands.
Lasogga now seems to have his heart set on a move to Hamburg if the Bundesliga club can find the funds to sign the 22-year-old.
