Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Nemanja Gudelj is attracting interest from England.
O Jogo says Newcastle are interested in signing Gudelj - who has impressed on loan at Sporting Lisbon.
The Magpies, Sporting, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Real Betis are all battling it out in the race to sign the 27-year-old.
Newcastle will be in the market for at least one new central midfielder this season following Mohamed Diame's departure.
