Hatem Ben Arfa is set to learn where he stands at Newcastle United next week when the shirt numbers are handed out.
The Evening Chronicle says new signing Siem de Jong's preferred number is the 10 shirt which he wore with so much style as captain of Ajax before arriving on Tyneside this week.
But that shirt was occupied by Ben Arfa last season and now Alan Pardew faces the dilemma of either taking the number 10 off the French playmaker or asking De Jong if he would accept a different number.
Newcastle had issues with Ben Arfa's fitness last season and the player is entering the last year of his contract.
But there have been no firm offers for his services despite talk of interest from AS Roma, Inter Milan and Galatasaray.
