Newcastle United remain keen on Watford goalkeeper Jonathan Bond.
The Journal says United were on the brink of pulling off a deal for England under-21 goalkeeper Bond on the final day of the summer transfer window, only for the deal to fall through after failing to agree a fee with the Hornets.
But they may return to the Championship club as they make plans to strengthen the goalkeeping department in the New Year.
