Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark has welcomed new signing Jeff Hendrick.

Clark believes that his Republic of Ireland international colleague Jeff Hendrick will "bring a lot" to Newcastle.

"First of all, he's a great lad - he works hard, he knows the league, he's played in it for a number of years now, and he's got international experience," Clark told nufc.co.uk. "He knows what it takes to play in the Premier League and I think he'll bring a lot to this team.

"He works hard and he's good technically as well. He's got that attitude of never giving up and I think that's what the fans want to see. We've seen over the last few years in games when all the lads have been right at it and the crowd have got behind us, and they obviously appreciate that. I think that's what it takes to do well up here."
