Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is under serious consideration at Newcastle United.
The Mail on Sunday says Hasselbaink, who has impressed by leading Burton to the title in League Two, is seen an ideal candidate to restore a connection with Newcastle fans and to motivate under-performing players in the squad.
The former Leeds, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid striker has distinguished himself from his peers by getting hands-on management experience, firstly at Royal Antwerp in Belgium, who finished seventh in the Belgian second division under his leadership, and then dropping into the English lower league to manage Burton.
On Tyneside, it's suggested a new manager will be installed in the next week.
