Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is grateful to club owner Mike Ashley for his support this week.
Pardew will start a seven-game ban at Fulham this weekend after his clash with Hull City midfielder David Meyler.
"It was a relief when I was told I would not lose my job. We all make mistakes. Mine was in front of millions of people. I regret it. I need to become a better manager from this. It has been a very difficult time.
"Mike acted swiftly, I accepted that and we move forward. The backing I have had from people within the club has been a big help. I was always going to accept the decision of the independent panel. I said that to my [legal] team before we went into the hearing."
