Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew insist Gabriel Obertan has nothing to prove at Manchester United tonight.

Obertan will start in the Capital One Cup tie.

Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "He's got nothing to prove - he's still a young player.

"Just because of his size you think he's 26 or 27 - he's still young (23) and learning his trade. He was good pre-season and he's itching to play. He will definitely start."
