Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has held showdown talks with Nile Ranger over his career on Tyneside.
The Evening Chronicle says the trouble striker had pleaded for a chance back in the first-team squad.
But Ranger has been told the score by his manager Pardew, who has taken a hard line on his behaviour.
When asked if had the chance to resurrect his faltering Toon career at first-team level, Pardew simply said: "He will not be involved this season."
The striker joined Sheffield Wednesday on-loan yesterday.
