Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew insists he hasn't forgotten about Sammy Ameobi's contract.
Pardew feels that handing Ameobi a shorter contract to the frequent five or six-year deals dished out to the likes of Haris Vuckic and Paul Dummett could be a good thing.
He said: "We take risks all the time with contracts. You give kids five year contracts like Haris has got, for example, and sometimes you make calls either way.
"Sometimes you make those calls because of the personality of the player. I think Sammy having his contract up at the end of the year is a good thing for him.
"It keeps him hungry."
