Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew feels the new deals for Fabricio Coloccini and Tim Krul shows owner Mike Ashley is in it for the long haul.
Ashley is building a club that he sees having a viable - and successful - future.
"I think I made it clear this week that Mike realises he's here for the long-term. In view of that he's trying to give us every possible chance to bring success to the fans of this football club," he said.
"These are major, major signings. The core of our football club are all under contract for a long time, the next four or five years. It gives us a great opportunity to push on with the successful season we've had so far."
