Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says Cardiff City is a good move for Haris Vuckic.

Explaining why Vuckic was sent to South Wales, he said first-team football was a major consideration.

Pardew told the Sunday Sun: "I just thought 'will he be a bit part player for me between now and the end of the year?'

"I have Cheick Tiote coming back, Yohan Cabaye. Dan Gosling and Perchy who has gone back to his best role as a midfield player.

"So it is time for Vuckic to get experience and the top of the Championship is the perfect place for him.

"All of these are players who will feature for us next season."
