Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has likened Jak Alnwick to former Magpies goalkeeper Steve Harper.

Alnwick shone in the 2-1 win against Chelsea and will be in goal for the Tyne-Wear derby on Sunday lunchtime.

Pardew said: "His personality sort of works as a goalie. He is a calm and kind of laid-back. He isn't unlike Steve Harper in terms of his manner really.

"If I'm a defender I prefer that type of goalie than a jumpy around one, he's been very, very confident.

"I felt a little bit for him on Saturday when he got exposed a bit too much."
