Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has hailed the impact of captain Kieran Trippier.

The England fullback produced three assists for Sunday's 8-0 win at Sheffield United.

Howe said, "He's technically so good Kieran. His use of the ball is second to none and when you are under pressure to find a pass and find a way out, he finds a way.

"It goes without saying, his set-piece delivery is brilliant and has been for a number of years.

"He's been so good for us off the pitch as well - with his leadership skills and experience and how he helps the team drive forward and be successful. He has been an incredible player for us."

On the form of Anthony Gordon, he added: "He is someone who wants to train and wants to play every day. We will monitor his load and with a lot of players we will pick and choose.

"I chose the Sheffield United game to try and give him a rest. That didn't work out because Harvey [Barnes] picked up his injury."
