Newcastle United have suffered a mega blow to their defensive system this week.

The Magpies have learned that Dan Burn has suffered an injury to his back.

Per manager Eddie Howe, Burn has been ruled out for two months with a spinal injury.

"Dan will be out for some time I think," the Newcastle boss revealed during a pre-match press conference.

As the Magpies prepare to take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, Howe admitted that two months is "a speculative number for us".

Howe continued: "He landed on his spine, he's got a problem at the base of his spine. It's a huge blow."
