Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has thrown everything behind Dwight Gayle.

Newcastle have been left to battle on with just Jolelinton through a long hard winter so far with Gayle, Yoshinori Muto and Andy Carroll all injured.

Bruce said: "The reason why we didn't sign a striker in January?

"I felt that those who were available weren't any better than Dwight Gayle.

"I keep saying that I think a lot of him.

"He's a very good footballer I hope he stays injury free now."
