Newcastle United and Tottenham have plans to launch a bid for Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale.
Former club Spurs are willing to bring the Wales captain back to London this summer and are prepared to offer €50-60m to make the deal happen, says Four Four Two.
However, covering Bale's wage demands is proving out of range.
Newcastle, meanwhile, would be prepared to match Tottenham's offer and under their imminent new owners, would also be capable of meeting Bale's personal terms.
For their part, Real would be happy to sell Bale as they've been seeking to clear the attacker off their books for the past year.
