Newcastle United and Sunderland have both accepted charges of misconduct from the Football Association.
The clubs were charged following last week's Tyne-Wear derby at Sports Direct Arena with a 'failure to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.'
The Black Cats said that they had accepted the charge but will now have a personal hearing to sort out the issue.
"The club has requested a personal hearing to discuss this incident further.""Sunderland AFC has accepted a charge of misconduct from the Football Association following an alleged breach of FA Rule E20 (a) during last weekend's Barclays Premier League fixture at Newcastle United, " read a statement on Sunderland's official website.
Sunderland's James McClean made a feisty challenge on Danny Simpson whilst Black Cats players Stephane Sessegnon and Lee Cattermole were both shown red cards.
