New York Red Bulls have announced the signing of Luke Rodgers.

Rodgers, 29, comes to MLS having spent his entire career in England. During the 2009-10 season, Rodgers played for Red Bulls coach Hans Backe at Notts County, helping the club earn a promotion to the English League One.

"Our head coach Hans knows Luke very well from his days coaching at Notts County and we believe he will immediately compete for a starting position," said Red Bull New York General Manager and Sporting Director Erik Soler.

"He has a very good work ethic and provides pace and strength to our front line."
