MLS club New York Red Bull are expecting to welcome Danish winger Brian Nielsen this week but are still awaiting the arrival of English striker Luke Rodgers.
Nielsen's flight has been delayed because of volcanic ash in the air cancelling thousands of flights in and out of Europe but he is likely to land in New York by Thursday and begin training immediately.
"I think they open today, the airports in Scandinavia and England, too," Red Bulls coach Hans Backe said. "He has a flight tomorrow.
"He needs some games, but I still think he should be good enough to make an impact."
However, Notts County striker Rodgers may not arrive until later on in the year because of problems arising from trying to obtain a visa.
"It will take time, weeks," Backe said. "I'm not sure it will be a deal in June. If we're lucky he gets the Visa earlier, but it seems to be a problem.
"He's the player we need for the balance in the team with his pace," Backe added. "That's why I think I can be patient and just wait."
