MLS expansion franchise New York City FC have revealed their official team badge/logo.

Major League Soccer's 20th team casted a four-day online vote for fans to decide on one of two logos created by renowned New York-based designed Rafael Esquer.

More than 100,000 votes were collected by NYCFC with fans deciding on the badge which has been 'inspired by the old New York City Subway Token'.

Claudio Reyna, NYCFC's sporting director, said in a statement: "Given the significance of a Club's badge and what it means for a team's identity, it was important for us to have our fans included from the beginning - a commitment that we've made from the start.

"Thanks to the voice of our fans, we feel that we have a design that truly represents our Club and City."

New York City FC were founded in May 2013 and will begin MLS play in 2015. The franchise is owned by English Premier League club Manchester City and Major League Baseball's New York Yankees.
