New Premier League deal all at sea

IMG Media has renewed a media rights agreement with the English Premier League for the next three-year cycle, reports SportsPro. The deal is for international broadcast rights on aeroplanes and ships and includes extensive coverage on Sport 24, IMG's 24-hour live sport channel produced for the airline and cruise industries.

The new deal will run from 2013 to 2016.

IMG currently has distribution deals in place with Lufthansa and Gulf Air, as well as Norwegian Cruise Liners, but is in active discussions with other parties to expand its coverage.

"We know IMG well and are extremely pleased that they have chosen to invest in the Premier League's exclusive aeroplanes and ships broadcasting rights," said Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore.

"We look forward to working with them as they distribute the Barclays Premier League in a way that allows our fans to enjoy the competition while travelling overseas."
