Malaga are chasing Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
The new board at Malaga have been the big spenders in the early days of this month's transfer market.
The club's Qatari owners have the cash available to cover Adebayor's wages and bring him to Spain for the remainder of the season on-loan.
In the opening days of the winter window, Malaga have signed Atletico Madrid pair Sergio Asenjo and Ignacio Camacho, former Arsenal attacker Julio Baptista and ex-West Brom midfielder Enzo Maresca.
Malaga chiefs now hope to add Adebayor to their new-look squad.
