New England Revolution's Nicol: Ex-Newcastle, PSG defender Domi will improve us

New England Revolution coach Steve Nicol is confident that French left-back Didier Domi will help improve the overall quality of his squad.

The 32-year old former Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United, Leeds United, Espanyol and Olympiakos man has joined the MLS ahead of the upcoming 2011 season and Nicol is expecting big things.

"Most players playing in Premier League are 32-34,'' Nicol told boston.com. "He's experienced, he's good on the ball, and that's a lot of the things we were lacking last year.

"We weren't good on the ball, I kept saying it over and over. So, he's definitely someone who's going to make us better with the ball."

Domi admitted he had come to the USA because he sees MLS as a very exciting league that he wants to be a part of and impart his knowledge on the younger generation.

"You just see a lot of excitement around MLS in France,'' Domi said.

"So I said why not go over there to the United States? And I was lucky to go to Boston, because it was the first team to contact me.

"You have to see if you feel good with the team first, with the trainer, then the town. When I saw the atmosphere, it was good, a lot of youngsters.

"If we can talk to the young, you always have something to give if you have experience. But first of all it's to play good as a team, to get back into the playoffs, and go as far as we can. That's the first thing, to be good as a team," he added.
