New England Revolution head coach Jay Heaps was absolutely thrilled after the club managed to land Shalrie Joseph.
The 35-year old midfielder returned to the Gillette Stadium on Tuesday via the MLS Waiver Draft after spending time with Chivas USA and Seattle Sounders over the past few years.
Joseph is back with the Revs, where he spent almost a decade between 2003 and 2012, and his re-arrival at the club has Heaps in a positive mood.
"It looked like we were going to get him," said Heaps. "Then it looked like we weren't going to get him. Then there were a couple little things that happened.
"But I think it's good. It's really good to add another veteran voice in [the locker room] and someone that understands this league.
"We've got a lot of young guys. A guy like Shalrie can guide a lot of players in their growth. He has some experience that we're going to call upon at certain times this year."
