New England Revolution defeat DC United in US Open Cup

New England Revolution got the better of a fast-finishing DC United in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Tuesday night.

The Revs skipped to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Zimbabwean forward Kheli Dube in the 35th and 47th minutes before substitute Alan Koger added the third just over 20 minutes from time.

DC rallied to net twice through Montenegrin international Branko Boskovic in the 73rd minute and then in the 82nd minute but it was not enough to keep themselves in the competition.

New England will now meet Sporting Kansas City in the next round of the Cup whilst DC will now solely concentrate on MLS action.
