Chivas USA new boy Juan Pablo Angel admits the situation he finds himself is not ideal but insists he must respect the rules of Major League Soccer.
The 35-year old Colombian has been traded to the Goats from Los Angeles rivals the LA Galaxy to make way for their new recruit Robbie Keane.
Angel did hold one of the clubs three Designated Player spots but one of them had to be vacated for Keane and it was the former Aston Villa and New York Red Bulls man who was moved on, attracting a bittersweet response from the veteran forward.
"Not the best scenario, but these are the rules here in the league, and they should be respected ...," Angel told ESPN Deportes Los Angeles.
"After [the decision was] communicated to leave, the opportunity arose to be with Chivas, and I met with the coach [Robin Fraser].
"I had other options in the MLS, but my family recently moved here, and various other things, I decided it was best to stay here, explore this option as presented and enjoy."
Angel admits he was not as his best at the Galaxy and can understand that in this day and age, things need to change when clubs are chasing trophies.
"The organization concluded that they wanted to win the championship [and looked] for someone to help them do so," Angel added.
"My results do not speak well of me, and if the results are not [what they should be], one becomes disposable. This time it was my turn "
