Newly appointed Brisbane Roar chairman Chris Bombolas has admitted he prefers rugby league to football.
But the former state MP and sports reporter says he is intent on diving into the football world and do his best job for the Roar.
"As a kid with ethnic parents - my mother was German, my father's Greek - I've certainly played my fair share of football," he said.
"I was the little fat kid in goal. I didn't really progress from there much, struggled a little bit in that regard, both with my weight and my ability.
"I have been involved with (rugby) league for a long time, and that was mostly because of my association with Channel 9.
"They had the league rights and I happened to be their league man..
"Some of the critics might say 'you're a league man', and I'll never not love rugby league, but I can see where football is going, and this club in particular, and I'll put my heart and soul into it."
