Nevin surprised by Conte’s snub of Chelsea star Fabregas

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has been left perplexed by manager Antonio Conte's decision to leave midfielder Cesc Fabregas on the bench for the 2-1 win over West Ham United on Monday.

The Italian preferred Oscar and Nemanja Matic ahead of Fabregas in his team's midfield in the win at Stamford Bridge with N'Golo Kante playing the holding central role.

Nevin writes for Chelsea's official website: "There were talking points aplenty, beginning with Antonio Conte's decision to leave Cesc Fabregas on the bench at the start and finishing with…well with Antonio Conte's decision to leave Cesc Fabregas on the bench at the end.

"The boss's decisions cannot be argued with because of the dominance throughout and of course the score at the finish, but it shows he is not averse to trying the unexpected, the unusual and even what is considered the antiquated."
