Manchester United coach Phil Neville sees Phil Jones as a future club captain.
As Jones, 21, fights to return from a knee injury, Neville is convinced he has a bright future as Rio Ferdinand's long-term replacement.
Neville said: "Phil has got all the natural ability needed to play in any position. Now the concentration part comes into play.
"That will come with age and experience - cutting out mistakes, getting in the right positions.
"There will come a time when he has to start leading that back four, start being the Steve Bruce, the Jaap Stam, the Rio Ferdinand, because he is a leader in the way he plays.
"People feed off his enthusiasm and he leads the team. That is his next development now.
"Can he consistently play well and then can he lead and become United's captain in the next five years? That is the challenge ahead for Phil."
