Scunthorpe United defender Michael Nelson will leave the club on a free transfer this January.

The 31-year old has been given permission to depart Glanford Park this winter and his agent, Clive Hart, has confirmed the former Hartlepool United and Norwich City man will soon be on the hunt for a new club.

"It looks like Michael will be leaving Scunthorpe this month as part of a squad restructuring at the club," Hart told skysports.com.

"There has been interest from a couple of SPL clubs and several English sides and we will evaluate all offers.

"We will take our time as it is important at this stage of Michael's career we find the right club for him."
