Napoli are eyeing Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar. The Dutchman comes off contract in June and can commit to a foreign club from January 1.
Napoli coach Rafa Benitez is in the market for a new centre-half and securing Vlaar, 29, to a pre-contract would be a coup.
Vlaar is also being linked with Arsenal and Manchester United.
The defender thus far has refused to open talks over a new deal with Villa.
