Shunsuke Nakamura made his Spanish La Liga debut on Sunday, as Espanyol went down 1-0 to Athletic Bilbao.

The former Celtic star made a low-key debut for his new club, playing a full 90 minutes in midfield.

Bilbao's Gaizka Toquero scored the only goal of the contest in the 78th minute to give his side all three points.

Nakamura and Espanyol will next suit up in the La Liga against Real Madrid on Sunday September August 13 as there is a break this weekend for international matches.
