Daryl Murphy wants to help Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy return to the Premier League.

The former Sunderland striker has been linked with Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion this season.

But Murphy told the Sunday World: "That's what you need to get a big break in professional football, someone to have confidence in you and the faith that your football will be good enough to take the step up," says the 31-year-old. "And Mick was that man for me.

"Mick was talking the other day about being reconciled to the fact that the only way he would be a Premier League manager again is to win his way in. Well, I'd love to get the goals that would do that for him."
