Mourinho to keep Mikel at Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has rejected several offers for midfielder John Obi Mikel, indicating the Nigerian still has a role to play at Chelsea next season.

Mikel has spent nine seasons at Stamford Bridge since his transfer in 2006, however featured only 16 times last season as the Blues won the Premier League title.

According to BBC Sport, Mourinho's €15million (£10.7m) valuation of the holding midfielder is the main stumbling block to any transfer.

The 'Special One' has turned down offers from Al Ain and Al Wahda in the UAE, with those clubs unwilling to meet the Portuguese manager's asking price for the 28-year-old.

Several clubs in Turkey, including Fenerbahce, are also reported to be interested in Mikel, but they too baulked at Chelsea's transfer fee demands.
