Chelsea captain John Terry has denied claims that Jose Mourinho instructed his players to 'rush' referee Bjorn Kuipers last week.
Blues players surrounded the Dutch match official when Zlatan Ibrahimovic tackled Oscar in the first half of their Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
The west London were criticised heavily for their reaction to Ibra's tackle but Terry insists it was no plan of Mourinho's to act the way they did.
"Has he told us to surround referees? No never," Terry told Sky Sports.
"Not in his previous time here and certainly not in this time either. It's the complete opposite. Never has the manager or any other manager I've worked under insisted on that.
"When the captains sit down with the refs and the PFA and the Premier League at the start of each season, it's brought up and it's spoken about and it is our duty as captain to make that run up the field.
"That's not to go there to get people sent off or booked, it's to pull my players away and quickly move on with the incident. The refs know that they need someone to speak to on the field and the captain's the right person."
