Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho demanded the dismissal of youth coaching director Alberto Giraldez, it has been revealed.

Giraldez was axed yesterday and El Confencial says Mourinho demanded his sacking due to his close relationship with many at Barcelona.

The former Real coach was a guest lecturer last June at an event in Barcelona and part of his speech included: "For all who love football, for all of us in this world of coaching, the emergence of Pep Guardiola is a godsend."
